Pool tables
can be highly functional game playing pool tables and
at the same time be beautiful pieces of furniture that
can enhance any homes decor. Some of the finest homes
boast hand crafted Pool Tables built with solid woods,

Some good quality brands of pool tables made for home use

Golden West to name a few. Pool tables can range in price
from a few hundred dollars to literally thousands of dollars.
Pool
Tables and Pocket Billiards
Pocket Billiards ( Pool Table games that use pockets ) is
usually played on a four and one half foot by nine foot pool
table. This measurement may vary, but whatever the measurement,
it is about twice as long as it is wide.
The rails ( or cushions as
they are sometimes called ) and the surface ( table top
) are covered with a tightly woven cloth (pool table felt
).
Not all pool tables are created
equal
Although most pool tables look the same,
an inexpensive ( cheap pool table ) could become a basement
anchor. Without the ballast of solid construction ( a
slate bed, heavy solid wood, sturdy cushions with heavy
duty nuts and bolts and quality craftsmanship), consistency
in the play will lead to a pool game of fluke rather
than skill and quickly become quite frustrating.
A pool table has no moving parts to wear and is not generally
subject to abuse unless the pool table has been misused (remember
the Beverly Hillbillies - fancy eatin table!).
