Pool / Billiard Balls

Billiard balls (Pool Balls) presently are made of synthetic plastics (polymers). This wasn't always the case as Pool Balls were originally made of Ivory. Ivory was in dwindling supply at and around the mid 1800's. Because Billiards had become one of America's favorite pastimes, elephants were being slaughtered to keep up with the demand for ivory pool balls.

Pool Balls usually come in sets and the quantity varies depending upon what pool game the balls are for.
Snooker balls consists of 15 solid red balls, 1 solid yellow ball, 1 solid green ball, 1 solid brown ball, 1 solid blue ball, 1 solid pink ball, 1 solid black ball and in most cases a solid white cue ball.

Eight Ball pool balls consists of 15 balls numbered from 1 to fifteen with 1 to 8 being solid colors and 9 to 15 being striped balls and in most cases a solid white cue ball.

Nine Ball can be played with the above set by just using from 1 to 9.
