Pool Cue Holders
Pool
cue holders or pool cue racks, are mostly made of hardwood and
more often than not match the pool table's wood or the decor
of the games room or both. Pool cues are made of wood and like
any piece of wood will warp if left in a horizontal position.
This warping is due to the fact that long after any tree (be
it hardwood or otherwise) has been harvested for wood, it will
always bend toward the sun. So to keep pool cues from
warping, you must keep them upright.
Most
pool cue holders consist of a top portion and a bottom portion.
The top portion has holes drilled through it so that the top
of each pool cue protrudes through a hole. This
basically prevents the cue from moving from side
to side. The bottom has holes that are only
drilled half through and sanded into a cradle,
which holds the bottom portion of the cues. The
pool cue rack is usually mounted to the wall,
but can be built into a freestanding side table.
Regardless of
what kind you decide to purchase, the cue rack,
like most pool table accessories, has two purposes.
One is to be cosmetically pleasing to enhance
your decor, and the other is to serve an
important function.
